I’m biking across America this summer and taking a picture
of everyone I meet.

Guffey, CO

Bill, a retired welder, is kind of a big deal in Guffey. The library, firehouse, and school were largely funded by his annual chicken-fly — a controversial tradition where a chicken was plunged off the town’s fire tower. It's since been halted due to protests. This proud outlaw has been hosting cyclists in his rustic cabins, decked out with taxidermy and old newspaper clippings, since the TransAmerica route was established in 1976.
